Amazonas has used its 2050 emissions reduction targets to develop its decarbonisation pathway. The government has prioritised seven mitigation actions as part of this.
The priority actions primarily target the forest and land use sector, focusing on forest expansion and protection, and sustainable forest management. Actions to increase land use efficiency and sustainable agriculture will provide many co-benefits for farmers and the land.
Implementing these actions is expected to avoid 44 million tonnes of GHG emissions by 2030, and more than 209 million tonnes by 2050.
